Scripture Union started in 1867 in Wales with Josiah Spiers (pictured right) and has spread to over 120 countries around the world. Each country operates independently, seeking ways to best work according to the local situation. More information can be found at SU International.
Even though we are working independently, there is an internationally agreed statement of aims, belief and working principles. We also seek to support and encourage each other through regional offices. In Australia, each state is a separate and autonomous body working co-operatively as Scripture Union in Australia.
Scripture Union Northern Territory has been operating since 1950. Primarily involved in ministry to children and young people, SU NT works in schools ministry, camping, training events for those in children’s ministry and outreach and events such as Kids Games and our Indigenous workers in remote communities seeking to engage people with God’s word in their local language.
From the beginning, Scripture Union has been strongly committed to empowering volunteers for Christian ministry and we strive to continue to do this today as we partner with churches in our mission to reach the next generation with the Good News about Jesus.
Scripture Union is a not-for-profit organisation whose major source of income is from individuals and churches who see value in SU ministries.
